A source told Daily Post that it was Mr Val Ozigbo, Labour Party chieftain, who would have been attacked but Uba’s convoy had overtaken him and then ran into the abductors’ net.

“Val Ozigbo was coming back from Owerri with members of his family when he suddenly saw a convoy driving ferociously toward his own convoy, and attempting to edge him off the road. He quickly told his driver to clear off the road let the other convoy pass by.

“Shortly after they overtook Ozigbo, they ran into the gunmen at UGA junction who started shooting, and killed two policemen.

“Ozigbo who parked while the incident was happening, later learnt that the convoy that was attacked was that of Uba,” the source said.

Reacting to the development through a statement, the Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the attack, added that the Command has already swung into action.

According to Ikenga, the police has recovered a Lexus SUV which the gang operated and an AK-47 rifle. He also vowed that killers of the two police officers must be apprehended.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye who had declared the weekend and Christmas holidays as special working days for all Officers and men in the Command commended all personnel for their tireless and courageous effort in securing the people of Anambra State.

“He urged them not to be demoralized by the supreme price paid by their colleagues from Enugu State Command but to draw inspiration from their bravery in confronting the criminal gang,” Ikenga said.

SO SAD! Anne, prettiest of Rwigara family, is killed for speaking truth to Govt (Photos)

It is sad news that popular African activist, Anne Rwigara, is dead, having been poisoned

The dirt of politics in Africa, again, smells across the world as another prominent African activist, Anne Rwigara, was allegedly poisoned to death.

Most of Rwigara family members are now dead.

They are the only true opposition to Rwandan President Paul Kagame’s dictatorship.

Assinapol Rwigara, father of the family, was killed in a staged car accident on February 4, 2015 in Gacuriro, Kigali, Rwanda capital city. A wealthy industrialist, he was the key financier of Rwandan Patriotic Front.

After his death, the dictator had proceeded to destroy the family’s 4 Star hotel; grabbed several acres of their land; seized their multi-billion Tobacco company.

In 2017, Diane Rwigara, Assinapol’s daughter, declared to contest in Rwanda presidential election, to the delight of the masses who were tired of Kagame’s misrule.

She was promptly arrested by the government, and then disqualified from the race.

Police also arrested Assinapol’s wife, and also facilitated disappearance of Leon Orsmond, a South African freelance advertising creative, who had helped Diane Rwigara with her social media campaign.

Kagame’s dictatorship and human rights abuses attracted widespread outcry and condemnations, with United States and authorities in Europe pressuring him in favour of Rwigara family.

He finally bowed to pressure and released his victims but continued to persecute members of Rwigara family.

Now, it is Anne.

She died yesterday December 28 at the age of 41. While the cause of death is still unknown, it is widely speculated that Anne was poisoned.

Anne’s mother was quoted to have said that her daughter’s death was a “mystery” because she was not sick. According to report, Anne complained of stomach complications and, few days later, died in a US hospital.

HYPOCRISY! EFCC indicts 4 Buhari’s Minister over N187bn fraud, one to spend Xmas in custody

Former president Muhammad Buhari under fire as 4 of his Ministers are now under investigation by Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), one of them to spend Xmas Christmas in custody

The former President Muhammad Buhari is under fire as ongoing investigations by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) have already indicted four of his Minister over N187 billion fraud, casting dark cloud on the much-talked integrity of his administration.

The Mail reported that EFCC was trailing one Mr James Okwete, a contractor, who operated 143 different bank accounts and who fraudulently received over N37 billion from Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development under Sadiya Umar-Farouk, Buhari’s Minister.

Mr Okwete has been finally arrested and would spend Christmas in EFCC custody, an insider source from the anti-graft agency confirmed to Punch.

“The contractor involved in the N37.1bn fraud has been arrested and would spend Christmas in our custody. He has given some names, and the former humanitarian affairs minister and directors-general in the ministry were linked to the fraud,” it said.

“It is not only Umar-Farouk we are investigating. Three other former ministers are also under probe. They were allegedly involved in graft to the tune of N150bn,’’ a credible source in the EFCC confided in our correspondent on Sunday,” another source said, added that former agencies’ directors-general are expected to go down as the probe progresses.

Buhari was swept to victory in 2015 mainly for his success in deceiving voters that he would have “zero-tolerance for corruption.” And all the while he was in power, had kept maintaining that his administration was as clean as a whistle.

The ongoing probe is not just a national scandal, but it is also a huge embarrassment to the former President, the so-called man of integrity who hounded countless men and women to abyss with his anti-corruption mantra.
