CBN: “Emefiele should be killed by firing squad if not that Nigeria is ‘good country,'” – Tinubu’s Aide

CBN special investigator Jim Obaze report on former Governor of central bank of Nigeria is generating more controversies as Tinubu's Aide suggested that Godwin Emefiele should be killed by firing squad if Nigeria were not good country like China

As controversies still swirl around the Jim Obaze’s report on the gross misappropriation by Emefiele, the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), President Tinubu’s aide made yet another controversial statement on the matter.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Tinubu, said that Nigeria is a good country otherwise the erred former CBN governor would have faced firing squad because he committed treason. If it were China there would be no mercy and the ex-CBN boss would be executed.

Onanuga said this as his take on the report submitted by CBN special investigator, Jim Obaze who discovered a lot of dirty deals by Emefiele while he was governor.

The report said Emefiele was keeping £543.4 million in fixed deposit; he has operated 593 foreign bank accounts in US, UK and China. And during election, he withdrew $6.23 million from CBN vaults under purported approval of President Muhammad Buhari to pay foreign observers.

Shehu Sani spots loopholes in Obaze report on Emefiele

Former Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to the CBN Special Investigator Jim Obaze’s report on former governor of the apex bank.

While Sani applauded the findings, he pointed that the report did not mention Emefiele’s “accomplices and collaborators” as there must be people whom he (Emefiele) worked with.

Sani’s observation obviously confirms the suppressed popular opinion that while Emefiele may have done wrong, that Obaze’s report left a lot to be desired.
