INEC ex-chairman Jega gets new appointment from Tinubu

Former chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega has reemerged on the national scene.

Jega was first named co-chairman of the Presidential Committee on Implementation of Livestock Reforms in 2024. But President Bola Tinubu has just elevated him yet again. His new appointment as the presidential adviser and coordinator of Presidential Livestock Reforms simply brings him back to the face of the Nigerian public once again.

The committee’s objective is to help farmers, herders, processors, and distributors in the livestock industry through research. Jega is expected to find a better way to improve the overall industry.

Jega is remembered for innovations he brought to INEC. But most importantly, he is famous, or rather infamous, for presiding over the 2015 presidential election in which a sitting president’s reelection bid was defeated for the first time in Nigeria’s democracy.
