“Dear Valued Customer:” UBA, First Bank, Access, others shut down branches nationwide for 48 hours

"Dear Valued Customer," Nigeria commercial banks - First Bank, Access, UBA GTB and others - send messages to customers as the shut down branches nationwide for Christmas holidays

Commercial banks and other financial institutions would shut their branches nationwide on Monday and Tuesday.

This is in compliance with the directive from Federal Government. Monday is a Christmas Day and Tuesday, Boxing Day. President Bola Tinubu has already declared nationwide holidays to this effect, having travelled to Lagos himself for the festival.

The holidays is expected to increase suffering among ordinary Nigerians as cash scarcity bite harder nationwide.

How Christmas Day in South-East sit-at-home will affect travellers

This year’s Christmas Day falls on Monday, the day so many southeasterners have already accepted to be a resting day due to forced sit-at-home directive by Biafran fugitive, Simon Ekpa.

Apart from Enugu State where Governor Peter Mbah has fought and won against Ekpa’s destructive propaganda, almost all other South-East states are expected to be lockdown on December 25.

This will obviously pose a serious challenge especially for travellers returning to the Igbo land from other regions across the nation.

Bank customer to use E-banking

Banks have advised their customers to use e-banking on Monday and Tuesday.

“Dear Customer: This is to notify you that our branches will be closed for the Christmas holidays on Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th December, 2023 and will resume regular operations on Wednesday 27th December, 2023,” message from WEMA Bank read.
