Ondo Election 2024: twists as 8 candidates set to step down

Four days to Ondo governorship election, new details emerged, showing that about 8 political parties’ candidates are ready to step down.

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) are the two major political parties viewed as the only contenders in the election.

According to Punch report, deals were struck over the weekend. Eight candidates would be surrendering their ambition to support either APC or PDP.

“About eight of the smaller parties want to ally with the bigger parties. These parties’ alliances want to make money from the proposed alliance.

“Many of them have been talking with the leadership of the APC and the PDP and some of the agreements were sealed last weekend and before Friday all of them would announce where they belong,” Punch reported a source as saying.

Peter Obi canvases for LP ahead of Ondo election

The presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Mr Peter Obi have since weighed in in Ondo governorship election, campaigning for the party’s candidate.

He has described Sola Ebiseni, LP candidate, as a man with all it takes to lead the state.

Obi’s efforts in Ondo is expectedly going to have zero impact despite his status in the dying party.

The race would definitely be all about the two dominant parties – APC and PDP.
