Government officials don’t care how much money they waste. Nearly a year after the ₦21-billion residence was built for Vice President Kashim Shettima, he has still refused to sleep in it for even a day.
According to the DailyTrust which visited the residence on January 31, there was no sign of activities. Apart from very few plainclothes security operatives manning it, the home was in total silence and without sign of life.
The National Assembly first approved ₦7 billion to construct a separate place for Vice President in 2010.
In November 2023, the lawmakers went a step further and approved additional ₦15 billion since not so much had been achieved more than a decade after.
So the impact of President Bola Tinubu was felt and he commissioned the residence on June 7, 2024.
The Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) also confirmed that the work section of the Vice President’s residence was ready.
However, the Shettima was yet to move in to his new home basically because of the location, unofficial sources from the presidency revealed.
Shettima can’t live there for security reasons. It was painfully silence and not safe for a figure of national importance like the Vice President.
