Afenifere Youth Leader is kidnapped for ₦100 million ransom

Few days after its prominent leader Ayo Adebanjo died, Afenifere is struck again as the group's Youth Leader is kidnapped for ₦100 million ransom.

Another tragedy has struck Afenifere few days after its prominent leader Ayo Adebanjo died.

National President of the Afenifere National Youths Council, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, has been kidnapped in Abuja, the group’s national secretary, Abiodun Aderohunmu, said in a statement.

His abductors first shot him in the buttocks before taking him away on Monday, February 17. They have called, demanding a whooping sum of ₦100-million ransom.

“The Afenifere National Youths Council is deeply saddened to announce the kidnapping of its National President, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, in Abuja, Nigeria,” Aderohunmu began.

Afenifere is apex Yoruba socio-cultural group, founded in the early ’90s in response to domineering tendencies of the North. It the body behind the reasons why the voice of the tribe is so loud in Nigeria.

On February 14, one is founding member and notable Nigerian, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, passed on.

The youth wing is already calling on their fathers to assist in rescuing the youth leader. And there is no doubt that they’d rally together to either share the burden of paying the ransom or pressuring relevant institutions to ensure Ojajuni’s safe, quick return.
