How we caught Philip Igwe red-handed stealing solar panels, etc – Hon. Olisemeka

More councillors react to the “ugly” spin that Aninri executive influenced Rt. Hon Philip Igwe’s impeachment.

The 10-member Assembly ambushed the former leader on Monday and striped him of the honour. They voted 9/9 in one of the most coordinated attack in Aninri politics. Unequivocally, they called him a “big-time thief,” threatening to jail him.

Igwe is yet to make a public statement since then, but he reportedly employed handful of small-time publicists to make his case, daily diverting attention in Aninri media space. One Damian Makwe, with his friend Justice Onyeabor, are allegedly paid to accuse the council chairman, Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku, of orchestrating Igwe’s removal.

But Hon Sunday Olisemeka, the Majority Leader of Aninri legislative assembly, has only went deeper to expose the fallen legislator. In a lengthy statement released this morning, the fiery lawmaker told the ugly tale of Philip Igwe’s “gross misconducts”.

According to him, Philip represented clear embarrassment and has stained the integrity of the chamber for far too long.

“Notably, he [Philip Igwe] was caught red-handed stealing iron rods and solar panels intended for infrastructural development within the local government,” he wrote.

He stole ₦5 million security allowances for the ten wards in the Bennett Ajah-led administration, Olisemeka continued. Apart from this, Philip seized sitting allowances of his colleagues many times, and vandalized several government properties, including a transformer at Afor Agbo.

Speaking, Olisemeka insisted that the councillors impeached their former leader purely on the basis of several instances of embezzlement, criminality and impunity. According to him, “it is both misleading and dishonest for [Philip Igwe] to claim that his removal from office was orchestrated by the chairman.”

His statement is timely as it is exonerating. He is the seventh councillor to openly say the legislative assembly takes full responsibility of its action and it’s ever proud of removing Philip.
