
Chairman of Aninri local government area Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku appears to have tugged at the heart of the constituency once again as he confirmed the appointment of Chief Sunday Akpaigwe, popularly known as Baba Sunny.

“Aninri council chairman, Hon. Ugochukwu Nwanjoku has confirmed the appointment of Chief Sunday Akpaigwe (Baba Sunny), business mogul based abroad as his special adviser on Diaspora Matters,” the chairman’s media office said in a statement on Thursday.
Baba Sunny is one of the wealthiest persons in the council area. Based in Angola, the businessman’s interests transcend African market to Europe, America and Asia continents.
His appointment marked the first time, since 1999, when a sitting council chairman deems it worthwhile to include in his cabinet illustrious constituent outside politics.
“Baba Sunny is a real deal, and its entirely for the benefit of our people that Chairman chose him,” Hon. Ernest Oshi, former administrator of Aninri North Development Center, said. “He’ll bring in his wealth of knowledge, and his long contacts will do so many good for our people,” Oshi added.
“Baba Sunny is great as they comes! Kudos to Ndi Aninri. Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku made the right choice for our people,” Dr. Emmanuel Okore, former President-General of Amagu autonomous community in Aninri, said.
Apart from being unusually humble, the Angola-based business mogul is a philanthropist with large and growing following, Chief Obasi, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) told The Mail in a phone chat.
“He is a big fish. Prince Nwanjoku must have been a wizard to have been able to convince Baba Sunny to be part of Aninri politics. It means we’ve won,” the chieftain said.
