Breaking: Ekwueme emerges Chief Whip as LP loses grip of Enugu 8th Assembly
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is now leading in the Enugu State House of Assembly following sack of two Labour Party lawmakers by Appeal Court.
Jude Udefuna and Obinna Ijere, both declared winners under Labour Party in March 18th elections, were sacked. Their PDP challengers, Uzuchukwu Onah and Chima Obieze of Udenu and Ezeagu constituencies respectively were, yesterday, sworn in in their place.

This is the latest development in the fight to contain Labour Party in Enugu following its shocking victories in the elections. In the 24-member legislature, LP had claimed 14 seats and left PDP with only 10. Court has also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for organize rerun in Enugu South Urban state constituency where LP won in March.
With the shakeups here and there, including Enugu lawmakers at the National Assembly, Chukwuma Ekwueme, member representing Uzo Uwani, has emerged new Chief Whip in the State Assembly.
