Breaking: Fubara and Wike finally meet in Aso Rock

Finally, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his godfather Nyesom Wike met in Aso Rock today.

The two leaders have been fighting for control of the state’s political structures since 2023 in a crisis that has since caused much human and capital losses in the state. Several stakeholders and statesmen, including President Bola Tinubu, have intervened but to no avail.

So far, the development has Polarised not just Rivers State Assembly, but also almost all important political actors in the Niger Delta region.

However, their meeting today is not connected to resolving the lingering crisis. The meeting was all about the ongoing talk about Ogoni clean-up, a talk that would see oil exploration resume in the four local government areas in Ogoniland.

Top Niger Deltan big shots, including Senator Lee Maeba, Senators Magnus Abe, Olaka Nwogu, Chief Victor Giadom, and Chief Kenneth Kobani.

Others were Monsignor Pius Kii, Leedom Mitee, and Senators Bennett Birabi Barry, Mpigi, and Joe Poroma, accompanied Governor Fubara.
