Breaking: Names of those who killed Mohbad revealed

At least, justice is now served. Although Mohbad can no longer be made to live again, what is going one now is a welcome development.

More than a year after Nigerians took to the streets to demand justice for killing of rapper Mohbad, Taiwo Odumosu, head of the deceased’s family’s legal team, has given encouraging updates.

During an interview with the Punch, Odumosu said the Nigerian Police Force is actively blocking investigations, preventing the processes that would lead to the identities of the killers.

According to the lawyer, those involved in Mohbad’s death are “powerful individuals.”

Because of the “powerful individuals”, the legal team is not finding it easy employing capable investigators and pathologists who would help unravel the mysteries behind Mohbad’s passing.

“Getting pathologists to attend to the matter was a bit tough. We got in touch with four pathologists: one from Kaduna, another from Maiduguri and one other place but they said powerful individuals were interested in the matter and declined to take it on,” Odumosu said.

Expressing his disdain on how Nigeria’s government institutions should stand to support what is evil just because “powerful individuals” are involved, Odumosu detailed the roles of the police so far in weakening the investigation.

“The biggest challenge we have had so far is from the Nigerian Police. Apart from the shoddy investigation that is clear even to the novice, they have refused to cooperate with us on certain levels,” the lawyer said.

So far Larry King and Naira Marley, two prime suspects in the eye of the public, have since refused to honour Coroner’s inquest.

As the second autopsy is presently taking place somewhere in Europe, according to Odumosu, almost nothing is certain to come out of the exercise as Aloba family would soon take Mohbad to bury him.
