Philip Igwe has been trending since yesterday – although for a negative reason. Having served a two-year term as the leader of Aninri Legislature Assembly, he was reelected to head the 11th Assembly on November 2024.
However, his 9 other colleagues in the chamber unanimously ambushed him yesterday with impeachment, dragging him into the mud.
Born on 4 April 1984, the embattled lawmaker hails from Ndeabor community in Aninri, Enugu State. Not much is known about him, but he is a businessman.
Former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, included him on the 260 people he selected to be councillor in 2020. There was no competition, and so Philip Igwe walked into the chamber – without stress.
There, he was lucky again. Bennett Ajah, former chairman who was notorious for his love for mediocrity, ordered the 10-member Assembly to pick Philip as the leader. And it was so.
Although he hasn’t faced any winner-takes-it-all political battle, the Ndeabor-born politician has always proven he has persuasive skills.
