Enugu 8th Assembly, Kenneth Eze unveil new plans to tackle food insecurity
Deputy Chief Whip of Enugu State House of Assembly, Princess (Hon.) Obiajulu Ugwu, has unveiled new plans towards tackling food insecurity in the state.
Speaking on Tuesday in event hosted alongside Enugu State Young Farmers Association (ENSFYA), Princess Ugwu who is representing Enugu South Rural Constituency in the 8th Assembly taught, among other things, that the first step was to understand the need to have a farm.
“If we must have a garden, we must (first) become gardeners,” the lawmaker told her elated audience among whom she had earlier distributed over 300 sack of varieties of plants.
Since inception, the administration of Governor Peter Mbah, through various policies, has made farming attractive to young people in the state.
ENSYFA President, Hon. Kenneth Eze, during his speech, extended his appreciation to Governor Mbah and to the entire 8th Assembly.
“It’s indeed remarkable that, perhaps for the first time in our history, that a principal officer in the state Assembly could make herself so accessible to common men in the street.
“We thank you, amiable lawmaker. Please send our greetings to our workaholic governor and to the House. The youths are happy,” Hon. Eze said.
On his part, the youths’ champion shared tones of yam seedlings to a nearly 5,000 farmers.
