And, indeed, there is such a reason, according to Abuwatseya himself.
Recall the Abia federal lawmaker, Alex Ikwechegh, had a hot exchange with the Abuwatseya days ago in Abuja, slapping the driver multiple times and generally assaulting him.
Ikwechegh was heard threatening he could make the driver “disappear in Nigeria,” among other crude words.
The encounter was captured in a video which went viral within hours. Nigerians were not impressed and immediately came to Abuwatseya’s defense.
A lot of celebrities also reacted angrily. Police came into the matter. The House of Representatives distanced itself from their embattled colleague’s shameful conduct and sent him to Committee on Ethics and Privileges.
The following day, Alex Ikwechegh dropped his pride and apologized. Yet he was arraigned before Magistrate Court in Kuje area of the Federal Capital Territory.

It was a big win for both Nigerian public and Stephen Abuwatseya.
However, Stephen Abuwatseya made surprising u-turn and pleaded for Ikwechegh and Nigerian’s forgiveness, citing stupid reasons.
“I had a misunderstanding with Rt. Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh a few days ago,” Abuwatseya began.”I actually want to apologize to him for whatever I must have said or done to provoke him to that level of anger.”
