Flavour reacts as court sentences a a man to 2 years imprisonment

Music legend Chinedu Okoli aka Flavour N’abania has reacted over the Federal High Court sentencing of one Mr. Courage Ikpaka.

Ikpaka was convicted and sentenced for two years for impersonating Flavour and defrauding an American woman of $53,000.

According to Economic and Financial Crime Commission, one Eyitayo Tolulope Abiodun and others had complained, sought justice on behalf of the victim, Yvelte M. Thompson.

Flavour was invited. But when he denied the allegation EFCC launched investigation and caught Ikpaka who is a resident of Benin City.

“We invited Flavour who honoured the invitation and claimed innocence of the allegations. Upon investigation, we discovered that one Ipaka Courage who lives in Benin City was the perpetrator. We invited the defendant, and he admitted in his statement that he impersonated Flavour by obtaining the sum of $53,000 from a woman who is a United States Citizen in 2021. He wired the funds through Bitcoin wallets and converted them in his Bank account where he received the value in Naira. The sum of N7.9m Naira was recovered from the defendant through Zenith and Access Bank manager’s cheques,” the commission said.

Sitting in Lagos yesterday, Justice Dehinde Dipeolu sentenced Ikpaka after admitting to committing the crime. He bagged two years imprisonment but will an option to pay N2 million to regain his freedom.

Sum of N7.9 was also recovered from the criminal and the money given to Mrs. Thompson.

Reacting through his X handle Flavour expressed his annoyance in just four words, “One down. Ndi uchu!”
