Fubara finally reacts to court’s suspension Rivers allocations

Rivers State Government finally reacted to the court’s suspension of its allocations payment.
Joseph Johnson, the Commissioner for Information, yesterday, told reporters that the court’s decision didn’t come as surprise to the government, as Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s cabinet had been expecting a blow like that.

“We saw this judgment coming the way it did,” Johnson said.
“When the trial judge refused 23 council chairmen as joinders, refused the state to change their lawyer and refused our objection challenging jurisdiction of the federal high court,” he added.
Fubara and Nyesom Wike have been fighting since last year.
Wike, the FCT Minister, wants to still control Rivers and he has been dragging the political structures with both hands. The feud has divided the State’s House of Assembly and led to a lot of crisis, but Wike is always winning.
Court bars Fubara from having access to monthly allocations
The latest development in the infighting came Tuesday when Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court Abuja barred Rivers State Government from having access to monthly allocations.
The Court’s decision followed a suit by Martins Amaewhule against the CBN, Governor Fubara and eight other defendants.
But Commissioner Johnson said the judgement has appealed.
“The judgment has already been appealed and l believe that the Court of Appeal will upturn the judgment. We are not panicked and there is no cause for alarm,” he said.
