This was contained in a statement signed by his media director, Ugo Nnaji, shortly after the judgement on Friday.
“Today’s Victory has actually justified the confidence reposed on our Governor by Ndi-Enugu on March 18th, 2023,” the statement read in part.
Recall that Mbah was eventually announced the winner of the March 18 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the opposition Labour Party (LP) failed attempt to upturn the results.
LP and its gubernatorial candidate, Barr. Chijioke Edeoga, had approached election petition tribunal where they lost. But before that, they had lost in their quest to both stop Mbah’s receipt of certificate of return and his inauguration.
During the period, several well-meaning sons and daughters of the state reportedly appealed to Edeoga to join people’s mandate. But his lawyer, eager to get more money out of him, urged him on.
Together with Labour Party, Edeoga filed a suit against Governor Mbah at the Appeal Court but lost. He ran to the Supreme Court and the matter was, yesterday, lay to rest. The apex court sent Edeoga home as it ruled in favour of Peter Mbah.
