Hamas War: Why Hamas calls for end of the war

Hamas war may likely end after Donald Trump won U.S presidential election as Hamas official called for immediate end of the war

Following the conclusion of U.S presidential election, senior Hamas official has called for the escalating war to immediately end.

Basem Naim, a member of the Hamas Political Bureau and spokesperson, revealed this in comments shared to Newsweek. He expressed his desire for the war to end and for United States to help channel attention towards recognizing Palestine statehood.

“The election of Trump as the 47th president of the USA is a private matter for the Americans,” Naim said.

But U.S must rise to its obligations as the world’s most powerful nation to ensure “immediate cessation of the aggression against our people, especially in Gaza,” Naim added.

Specifically, Hamas wanted the resolution, among other things, to end in Jerusalem being recognized as Palestinian capital.

Naim also criticize United States’ continued support of Israel in the war effort, describing such policy as “blind support for the Zionist entity ‘Israel’ and its fascist government.”

To ensure stability in Middle East, U.S must withdraw its backing of Israeli state, Naim opined.

Trump’s victory has immediate implications in Middle East, specifically on the year-long Israel vs Hamas war.

During his first term in power, Trump who maintained cloes ties with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, went out of his way to recognize Jerusalem as capital of Israel.

Although the former President already criticized Netanyahu’s reluctance in reaching a ceasefire agreement, he is most unlikely to listen to Hamas to recognize Jerusalem as part of Palestinian territory.
