It’s a pity. Billionaire businesswoman, Folorunsho Alakija, has gone completely blind.
A source, who spoke to SaharaReporters in anonymity, disclosed this yesterday. Mrs Alakija was onboard a plane with her husband recently when air accident nearly occurred.
To avoid traveling with her husband, Modupe Alakija, she bought her own private jet.
Although the mishap was controlled, Folorunsho Alakija’s blood pressure had shot up. She didn’t go to hospital to get treatment, the source continued. Instead she turn to church, and eventually went blind.
“She had a near air mishap with her husband on board and her blood pressure reportedly shot up affecting her eyes.
“She has been having eyesight issues, but instead of treating the illness, she chose to start a church to help her. Now she can’t see,” the source said.
Who is Folorunsho Alakija?
Folorunsho Alakija needs no introduction in the world stage. She is a 73-year-old billionaire, Executive Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil, and philanthropist of note.
She founded Famfa Oil, Nigerian company with a major stake in OML 127, a highly lucrative oil block in the Agbami deep-water oilfield.
Forbes ranked her 87th most powerful woman in the world in 2015, and estimated her net worth to be $1 billion in 2020.
Alakija family is one of the the wealthiest family in Nigeria. In 2004 Folorunsho Alakija started a small fellowship in her home named Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International.

On February 20 when former Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) launched his book, Alakijas were there. A whooping sum of ₦17.5 billion was donated.
Folorunsho Alakija was believed to one of IBB’s protege. It was during the military junta that she built her vast fortune.
