How PDP suspends Abia lawmaker for supporting Alex Otti

How PDP suspend it's lawmaker in Abia State as a mean to end smooth ride coming for reelection in 2027

It looks more like the 2027 elections would not be a smooth ride for Governor Alex Otti.

In a new interesting development, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has suspended a lawmaker. Mr Rowland Ceaser was said to have publicly support Governor Otti. He is the member member representing Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency at the State Assembly.

The suspension was announced in a letter dated February 17, 2025 and signed by both the ward chairman, Ikechukwu Enemanna, and secretary, Ubani Munachimso.

“There’s no way you will be in our party and be supporting a governor that is not a member of our party to the extent of assuring him a second tenure,” the party concluded, address I Ceaser directly.

Hon. Ceaser

Governor Alex Otti defeated the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 election to be the only governor elected on the LP platform in South East. Before his sudden rise to power, Otti had made several failed bid to lead Abia State.

He may have hidden strategies with which to win reelection in 2027 but his public acts all appear to be against him. On November 2024 he swore in chairmen of local government areas who were elected from different political parties from his.

Although he is delivering an excellent infrastructural turnaround in the state, and so have won nice public sentiment, Governor Alex Otti seems not to have no other blueprint in facing 2027.
