“I PAID JUST N340,” NIGERIAN MAN SHARES RECEIPT OF HIS OFFICIAL 1987 UNIVERSITY TUITION FEE, CAUSING BUZZ
The internet is breaking in buzz as a Nigerian man named Henry Omoregie has shared official receipt of his 1987 university tuition fee.
The receipt, issued by Rivers State University of Science and Technology, showed remarkable affordability of education then as the man paid just N340 for a full academic year.
This has sparked many reactions, people slumping into nostalgic wellness of Nigeria in yesteryears. As always, state universities are costlier compared to federal institutions and Omoregie went further to shock netizens.
He said that students at federal universities then paid just N10 for full academic session.

Omoregie wrote:
“340 Naira only. Federal Universities tuition fee was 10 naira only during the same epoch.”
Today, that is 36 years after, there has been drastic changes in terms of affordability of school fees in Nigerian universities. The tuition fee for a state university like Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) is about N200,000.
