Wives have rights to watch p^rns and m^sturbate, court ruled in India. The court passed the ruling, stopping a man who had filed for divorce on the basis that his wife m^sturbated and watched p^rns.
Women don’t discuss s3x in India; its strictly prohibited and regarded as taboo especially among married women.
In fact, the tradition is that a woman completely loses her s3xuality once she is married. Her only role was to devote to her husband and her children.
However, today’s ruling in the southern state of Tamil Nadu shifted from the norm. Its represents a serious correction from the base of Indian patriarchal tradition where a wives’ individuality doesn’t exist.
“Self pleasure is not forbidden fruit,” Madras High Court began, telling the man he has no right to divorce his wife simply because she m^sturbated.
“When masturbation among men is acknowledged to be universal, masturbation by women cannot be stigmatised,” it added, dismissing both the husband and his appeal.
Divorce is considered a taboo in India. Only 1 in 100 marriages ends in divorce, several statistics have proven. And even before the 1 percent happens, the wife must have tried, amidst social and family pressure, to sustain the marriage.
