The Mail recalls that Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, with the circumstances surrounding his death very suspicious.
He was hurriedly buried the following day, further raising public suspicion, and then outcry that the 27-year-old singer didn’t die a natural death.
There was nationwide protests that forced Nigerian authorities to react. Days later, on September 21 Mohbad’s body was exhumed by the police for autopsy.
The public continued to speculate on who could be behind Mohbad’s killing. His wife, Omowunmi, has been the prime suspect – at least in public’s eyes. Some celebrities, including Naira Marley, were once believed to know something about the singer’s dead.
With “powerful individuals” blocking investigation – in the words of the head of lega team working for the deceased family – and with speculation now narrowed to the embattled wife, several fans of Iyabo Ojo want her to stop supporting Omowunmi.
But Iyabo insist that unless Omowunmi was finally found guilty of killing Mohbad, she would never stop supporting her no matter the pressure from the public.

“A lot of people are angry that I’m supporting Wunmi. Until the law proves her guilty, there is concrete evidence that she is guilty I will continue to support her.
“Why would I want to be wicked to someone else’s child when the law has not found her guilty?
“If they like they should drag, curse me, I will not stop being nice to her. Until the judge says otherwise with evidence, proof beyond every reasonable doubt that she is guilty,” the movie star said.
