Biafra: Ohanaeze makes dirty allegations against S/East governors

Ohanaeze Ndigbo has makes dirty allegations as Mazi Nnamdi Kanu continues to suffer in detention, accused S/East governors of sacrificing Kanu for 2027 ambition

  • Justice Binta Nyako recused herself from Kanu’s case, exposed S/E governors – Ohanaeze

The Igbo’s apex socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has once again weighed in in the travail of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Ohanaeze, in a statement released by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, its Secretary General, called out the governors of South Eastern region and accused them of “sacrificing” Kanu for their personal ambitions in the 2027 election cycle.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo holds the Southeast Governors accountable for their apparent lack of political will to confront President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the urgent need for political solutions for Nnamdi Kanu’s release,” Ohanaeze said.

The Mail reported the surprising turn of event when Justice Binta Nyako, Kanu’s trial Judge, suddenly recused herself from the case on Tuesday.

Before Nyako washed her hands, there had ensued a drama in the courtroom. Visibly frustrated, Nnamdi Kanu sprang up from the dock, ordered his lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, to sit down, and confronted Justice Binta Nyako.

Kanu demanded that she recuse herself, and moments later the trial judge succumbed and stepped down.

Why Ohanaeze accuses S/East Governors of bias

In the long statement, Ohanaeze has recalled the closed-door meeting where notable figures, drawn beyond eastern horizons, discussed with South East Governors on how to engage President Bola Tinubu in order to secure Kanu’s release.

The peak of the meeting was the public pledge by the five governors to get Kanu released.

But almost three months down the line, nothing has happened to show that the Igbo leaders are doing anything to free Kanu’s from detention.

“The lack of proactive engagement raises suspicions among the populace, leading to justified claims that Nnamdi Kanu may have been sacrificed on the altar of political expediency for the upcoming electoral cycle in 2027,” Ohanaeze added.
