Prince Ugo Nwanjoku, Aninri council chairman, just announced the inauguration of Hon Victor Okoro as the Secretary of the Local Government.

Prince Nwanjoku disclosed this in a social media post he personally authored.

“The inauguration of Hon Victor Okoro as the Secretary of the local government,” he wrote simply, accompanying it with photos and video clips.

The announcement came as a surprise to many.

Earlier last month, one Mr. Nick Ekpete posted that he was appointed the Secretary of the Local Government, and then proceeded to savour congratulatory messages and praises following.

Meanwhile, several stakeholders in the zone have applauded Nwanjoku’s decision in giving the all-important office to Hon Okoro.

Okoro, the immediate past chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Aninri, is unarguably a smart politician.

“Victor is a solid man. The SLG fits him like clothes. I’m confident he would do well,” said Sunday Nwobodo, PDP chieftain from Nenwe town.

“The man is a pure politician. And he is very bright as it comes. His appointment, to me, is just another proof that Mayor [Nwanjoku] knows his onion in leadership,” Nwobodo added.

Torrents of congratulatory messages have since followed the announcement.

Prince Nwanjoku said one of his mantras is “square peg in a square hole,” and has since allow his appointment to reflect commitment to “building better Aninri” through apt appointments.

He hinted that more appointments would follow in coming days, when Mr Nick Ekpete, a gifted publicist, is most likely to take a seat in the Prince’s media office.
