Ohanaeze tackles Peter Obi, asks him to emulate Tinubu’s example

Ohanaeze Ndigbo has implored Mr Peter Obi, the 2023 Presidential candidate of Labour Party, to emulate president Bola Tinubu.

This is as the personality clash between the LP leader and Abia State Governor Alex Otti continue to widen.

In a statement by the socio-cultural yesterday, the Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro said it was obvious that the two Igbo leaders have some differences.

Recall that Obi, although he failed both in the polls and in the courts to win 2023 presidency, resurrected the dying LP, making a lot of the party’s candidates, including Otti, to win.

Throughout the elections and afterwards, Obi was revered as the ultimate LP leader, visiting and strengthening other party stakeholders.

But all these have changed. The former governor of Anambra State who had been literally with Otti, conspicuously shunned his commemoration of one year in office as the Governor of Abia State on 29th May, 2023.

It was also noticed that Obi’s names was missing among the list of anticipated dignitaries. And till date, Obi has not publicly congratulated Otti.

“It is disheartening to all citizens that Peter Obi was absent during the commemoration of Otti’s first year in office as the Governor of Abia State on May 29, 2024,” Ohanaeze said, urging Obi to drop whatever differences he may have with Otti and embrace Tinubu’s style of unifying his party, All Progressives Congress.

No one knows the exact differences the two leaders need to sort out but it may not be unconnected with the deep division that has plagued Labour Party or Obi’s recent move to form alliance with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
