The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is really doing more to stage a comeback in 2027. In Enugu, the party has already succeeded in recapturing its lost territories.
Days ago, the 2023 governorship candidate of Labour Party in Enugu State, Chijioke Edeoga, made a stunning u-turn and returned to PDP.
But this is not the only surprising thing happening since last week. Yesterday, Enugu State PDP chairman visited Aninri, one of the remote council areas in the state.
Dr. Martin Chukwunweike was there to witness the flag off of three projects. What he saw really “impress” him. He saw proofs of replicas of what the State Governor Peter Mbah is doing across the state.
But this time, the “great work” is being done by the youngest council chairman of Aninri, Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku.
The significance of the 3 projects
Aninri council headquarters, before now, simply represented shame. From the gate down to the centre where the current administrative building sits, all there were to see were sham: dilapidated buildings hidden in bushes; decaying tractors, ambulances, vans and other valuable Government properties.
The Chairman’s office as well as the Legislative building were not any better. Combined, they made some colony for wall geckos, snakes, rats and cobwebs. Every rodent and reptile seemed to be represented there.
Also, local farmers invaded the headquarters, occupied and converted significant chunks of it for personal farmlands. All these were happening despite tens of billions of naira coming into the council since last 12 years.
But now, as the new chairman begin the construction of 2-storey Administrative Block, 1-storey Legislative complex, and 1-storey Council Clinic, they will all be seated safe with the fenced headquarters.
The bushes have since been cleared, and collapsing buildings demolished.
