
Governor Peter Mbah is determined to make insecurity a thing of the past in Enugu State. This is as the state’s Police Command said it has foiled robbery attack and killed one armed robber at 9th mile area.
The command Spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said today that armed robbers hit at Owa Road 9th Mile on February 24. The operatives attached to the 9th Mile Police Division responded quickly.
During the exchange of fires, the police operatives gunned down one of the robbers, scattering others who fled with varying degrees bullet wounds. They recovered two stolen Toyota Corolla cars, one cut-to-size double-barrelled gun with three live cartridges and other exhibits.
“A cut-to-size double-barrelled gun with three live cartridges, weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, and other exhibits were recovered from the suspects.
“A manhunt for the other suspects, who fled with varying degrees of gunshot injury, is ongoing,” Ndukwe said.
The spokesman added that police, in separate operations, recovered two other Toyota Corolla cars from thieves within the state.
One of the cars was stolen on February 1 at 2a.m. The suspects tiptoed to where the vehicle was packed at Igbo-Eze Street, Independence Layout, Enugu and made away with it. Acting of credible intelligence, police officers trailed the hoodlums who abandoned the car and fled.
Then second incident happened at Udenu local government area. Police operatives under Igbo-Etiti Division arrested a suspect who stole a Toyota Corolla car from where it was parked in a compound.
“The suspect confessed to stealing the vehicle from where it was parked in a compound at Orba in the Udenu Local Government Area of the state on February 14,” the spokesperson said, added that the suspect had since been arraigned and remanded in prison.
The Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, is determined to fully carry out Governor Peter Mbah’s promise to make Enugu State a crime-free zone in four years.
