Omokri, ex-media aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, earned notoriety among netizens during the 2023 presidential election when he actively supported Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and dutifully spoke against Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party.
Then he was also vocal against then-presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu. He went as far as calling Tinubu a drug baron and helped to promote various dirty campaign against the flag-bearer.
However, when it became clear Tinubu is going to take power after all, Reno Omokri immediately switched side and started saying great words in the president’s name.
Now, El-Rufai is holding Omokri’s “hypocrisy” for the public to see. He called the former media aide “political mercenary” who holds no real value in politics but rather offers himself as a tool to the highest bidder.
“The interesting lifecycle of Wendell Simlin, also sometimes retained as a political mercenary by any person or government that can pay,” the former governor wrote on his X handle.
