SPA to Aninri Chair makes startling revelations about the 156 roads project (video)

Recently, the chairman of Aninri local government area in Enugu State, Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku, launched ambitious plan to upgrade 156 rural roads across the council area.

The Mail reported that Nwanjoku promised 1,000 kilometer of roads.

Reacting to development in a phone chat, the SPA to the chairman on works and infrastructure, Chief Emmanuel Obasi, revealed the tempo of the work.

“The work is ongoing in Oduma ward ll where my team and I visited yesterday,” Obasi said, adding that the contractors are expected to complete the project before December 15.

Aninri has turned to hive of construction activities, the SPA said. According to him, contractors are working feverishly to meet the chairman’s stringent demands – that is, to build to his taste, to finish under budget, to beat the schedule.

“It is a mere magic what is going on today in Aninri,” said a local farmer from Obeagu community, Mrs Joy Iyiagu.

“I heard he is less than two months in office. Why won’t our people be happy? This Obeagu road has caused many fatal accidents for the past four years. Ugochukwu [chairman] is simply saving a lot of live with this road upgrade,” Mrs Iyiagu concluded, speaking in Oduma dialect.

Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku won Aninri chairmanship election on September 21, and was sworn in days later.
