Yet another state of emergency looms in Zamfara state. A pro-democracy group has highlighted in the eyes of the world the alleged rising political tensions in the state.

But they’re acting more than ones who wants a voice to be heard – President Bola Tinubu should suspended Zamfara.

The Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) has accused Governor Dauda Lawal of political sabotage. Also, they accused him of economic sabotage.

Speaking at press conference yesterday, the group’s convener, Ibrahim Yakubu, said that Lawal has plunged Zamfara state into “anarchy and instability.”

Lawal is trying all he could to stifle the state House of Assembly, CDD added.

“In light of these grave violations, it is time for President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action before the situation spirals out of control,” Yakubu said.

Recall that President Tinubu declared state of emergency in Rivers State following seemingly unending political crisis that had rocked the state since 2023.

In the process, he suspended Governor Siminialayi Fubara, his deputy and members of the state House of Assembly.

The Rivers’ example has drawn heated debate, prompting questions about the extent of presidential powers.
