An Officer of Nigerian Army has shot himself dead right in front of his colleagues at 144 Battalion’s Forward Operation Base (FOB) in Abia state.
The officer, identified simply as Vitalis, was senior non-commissioned soldier Command Sergeant Major (CSM).
The reason while Nigerian soldier killed himself yet unknown
According to Nation which first reported the incident, the reason while Vitalis killed himself is still yet unknown. A source within the army said that, before his death, that there was neither any case of pending disciplinary action against the deceased nor report of clashes in his home.
Any attempt to suggest what led to the dead soldier’s decision could prejudiced proper investigation, the source added, although the certain events before his death could help.
Details of the Soldiers who killed himself
Before he died, Vitalis was said to have left the camp for 2 weeks. No one knew of his whereabout and all efforts to reach him had fail.
Then two weeks later, he returned to the camp, went close to his colleagues and shot himself dead in front of them all.

His retirement is due on October.
Vitalis was from Okpuala in Ngor-Okpuala in Imo State.
