“There was no elections in Aninri,” LP sows lies after bad outing today

Voters at the polls in Oduma ward 3 on 21/09/24

As more results trickle in, showing clear lead for the candidates of the Peoples’ Democratic Party in Aninri, Labour Party candidates are all over social media to protest their defeat.

“There was no elections in Aninri,” an opposition councilorship candidate from Nenwe ward bemoaned.

“PDP cheated. ENSIEC compromised and served PDP interest.

“Even at [Prince] Nwanjoku ward there was no sight of election materials,” this man posted on his Facebook page.

But earlier today, The Mail’s correspondent was live at polling unit 005 Obuagu Ezinato Village Square, the polling unit of PDP chairmanship candidate, Prince Ugo Nwanjoku.

The turnout was huge, and The Mail as well as other observers witnessed the peaceful process as voters glided to the boxes and voted.

PDP candidates are winning in 7 out of the 10 wards already announced.

“What is LP? Please ask me another question. There was no Aninri LP in the first place,” Nwaru James, PDP party agent told The Mail.

There was rumour that the LP chairman in Aninri, Benjamin Ajah, and the party’s chairmanship candidate, Celestine Chukwu, compromised and sold out at last minute before voting started in the morning.

Effort to find out whether this is true was fruitless but all 14 LP members we contacted in the morning for comments said they were tired of their party’s “wickedness.”

“I’m still in my house,” one of them from Oduma ward 3 said when contacted around 8 am.
