Today, former President Goodluck Jonathan joined in condemning the abrupt suspension of Rivers State Governor Siminialayi Fubara, his deputy and members of the State Assembly.
For Jonathan, Tinubu’s actions were clear abuse of presidential powers, a “dent on the image” of the country.
Recall that Tinubu dismantled Rivers State legislature Tuesday night with just words from Aso Rock. Two days later, the National Assembly ractified the proclamation against loud public outcry.
Speaking at the Haske Satumari Foundation Colloquium in Abuja today, Jonathan condemned the leaders.
“These actions by key actors in the executive and legislative arms of government paint the country in a negative light,” he said.
The former President wasn’t condemning only President Tinubu and the National Assembly. He equally nailed the judiciary for its role in destabilising the country.
In his words, the whole stories around the political crisis in Rivers suggest “a clear abuse of office… from the executive to the parliament and the judiciary.”
