Yesterday, hundreds of residents besieged Ndeabor-Uhugo link road to express gratitude as Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku visited the site.

“We never had it this way before. He [Prince Nwanjoku] has opened our eyes that a council chairman wields enough power to effect some tremendous changes,” HRH Igwe Dan Okechukwu, chairman of Aninri traditional council, said.

Igwe Okechukwu called Prince Nwanjoku the “true son of his father”, added that the chairman “means business.”

The 8.8-kilometre Ndeabor-Uhugo road would link Oduma – Aninri’s largest town – to the council’s headquarters at Ndeabor. It cuts across Amankanu Ohofia Ndumeze. When completed, it would drastically remove the drudgery and time-consuming drive to the headquarters by more than 80 percent as it would then take less than 7 minutes to get to Ndeabor.

Prince Nwanjoku, son of former Enugu state chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), promised during his campaigns to construct 100,000 kilometres of roads in two years.

Since his assumption on October 2024 he has commissioned more than 200 rural roads, making him one of the “most active council chairmen in Enugu State,” according a report from the state Government House.
