
The perennial scarcity and the exorbitant cost of fuel may be a thing of the past as Warri Refinery begins operation today.

Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), announced as he toured the facility with his team earlier today.
“We are taking you through our plant. This plant is running,” Kyari said to his team, added that President Bola Tinubu’s administration would make real its campaign promise of placing Nigeria in position it would be able to export oil.
The refinery is located at Warri, Delta State, and has production capacity of 125,000 barrels per day.
“This plant has three stages. We have started stage one which is called Area 1, able to produce AGO (diesel), Kerosene, naphtha and others,” said Farouk Ahmen, Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) who was part of the touring team.
According to Ahmen, president Tinubu has taxed the team to quickly revamp Warri Refinery as well as Port Harcourt Refining Company in Rivers State and the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company in Kaduna State.
