According eyewitnesses, it started like a joke, then turned sour at Aninri Legislative Chamber.
Then all of a sudden, one of them, Hon. Chidi Victor who was representing Nenwe ward lll, took it personal. It reportedly happened so quickly, and the Nenwe-born, a naturally unintelligent guy, face the rest of his colleagues in physical combat – inside the supposed hallowed chamber.
He ran and snatched the mace of the house in a manner akin to the unholy act of Senator Omo-Agege. But Aninri Legislative House were full of crude guys those days.
They descended on Chidi like wolves and, in a minute, left him half-dead – and half-naked.
It took direct effort of former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for Hon Chidi to still retain his seat and complete his traditional two-year two terms as a councilor.
Although its now many years in the past, the photo and video clips of the incident are trending again.
Its perhaps due the renewed interest in Aninri politics, ably engineered by the newly-elected council chairman, Hon Prince Ugo Nwanjoku.
Last week, Nwanjoku released series of visual proofs, and exposed the lies, deceit and recklessness of previous administrations.
The degree of theft going on in the local government is unimaginable, but a lot of people are showing confidence in Nwanjoku’s ability to follow a different and noble path.
