Nigeria is facing crisis abroad and at home. Barely a week after US deported 85 Nigerians, Benin Republic has followed suit.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) disclosed this on its X handle earlier today.
They “arrived at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport at 11:28 AM, where they were welcomed and received by NEMA and other key stakeholders.
“They included 40 female adults, 86 male adults, 25 male children, and 29 female children,” the agency said.
Almost a week ago, US “dumped” 85 Nigerian nationals in Lagos, while another 116 others are waiting inside tough detention facilities in America. They’ll soon be returned to Nigeria.
No fewer than 3,690 Nigerians living in US are facing deportation. President Trump is enforcing the most brutal crackdown on illegal immigrants in US history.
But if Nigerians are facing problems in the US, should they also be treated the same way on the African soil? Nigeria, one of Africa’s biggest economies, is facing hell.
Inflation and hunger, insecurity and unemployment have dried the average Nigerian. And the country is not regarded in the international community.
