Finally, members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will start enjoying the increase of their allowance.

Late 2024, the Federal Government announced it had increased the corps members allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000. But until date, the government has not implement the reviewed allowance.

However, the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, explained the reason for the delay during interactive session with the corps members at Wuse and Garki NYSC Zonal Offices in Abuja earlier yesterday.

He said it was due to late approval of the 2025 budget that caused the delay.

From this March henceforth, the corps members will receive ₦77,000 allowance.

“With effect from March, you will receive Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira as your monthly allowance,” Nafiu told the corpers.

Appreciating the corps members, he thanked them on behalf of the nation, and urged them to remain focused on the objectives of the scheme.

This call is coming days after NYSC corps member, Ushie Uguamaye, took to her Tiktok account and blast President Bola Tinubu.

Labelling Tinubu a “terrible president”, Uguamaye blamed him for messing up the country for the average Nigerian.

Her video quickly went viral, prompting calls and threats from the scheme’s officials and from the president’s circle. But the lady refused to back down, her boldness and the point she raised drawing interests of prominent Nigerians who supported her.
