• More on Prince Nwanjoku
An entirely new things are happening in Aninri council area since October 2024. For the first time, at least, since past eight years, the council area has come alive with activities.
Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku, the new council chairman, has upturned the ugly status quo. The headquarters, where the chairman go, driving himself from the city, everyday is like a beehive.
Earlier today the Enugu State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Rural Development, paid him a working visit.
According to a statement from the his Media Office, Chief Odenigbo Bonaventure led four of his colleagues in the visit.
They praised Nwanjoku for the “speedy transformation we have seen not just inside the Secretariat” but also in the council at large.
The visit is coming days after the state chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide met with Prince Nwanjoku. Its not clear if the two separate meetings has something to do with the incoming leadership of the socio-cultural group.
Chief Okey Njoku-Otti, the former deputy chairman of the council and, is already tapped and being projected as next chairman of Ohanaeze in Aninri, sources familiar with the development said.
When the plan succeeds, Chief Njoku-Otti would have written his name as one of longest serving politicians in Aninri. Presently the Senior Special Adviser to the chairman on Energy and Mining, he was the immediate past deputy chairman, although under the worst administration in the history of the council. A two-term councillor, he had worked as aides to other council chairmen.
