“No apology,” Wike defiles Rivers elders, insults Odili again

The controversial Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, still insists he owes Rivers State former Governor Peter Odili any apology.

Last week, Wike had reacted to Odili’s remark where the elder statesman accused the FCT Minister of attempt to turn Rivers to “private estate”. Odili praised Governor Siminalayi Fubara whom he said was brave enough to have stood against Wike’s greed.
Reacting, Wike said number of unprintable things against Odili, including calling him a sycophant who was not worthy of his status as elder statesman.
Wike’s outbursts, however, have received wider condemnation from Rivers people, with the elders demanding that he apologize to Odili.
Speaking at a luncheon held at his residence in Port Harcourt’s Old GRA on Friday, Wike said he had no apology to give.
“They said I should apologize—apologize for what? Did I say there’s a law that says their daughter shouldn’t hold a position? No.
“But as an elder statesman, should you have given what belongs to your nephew to your daughter?” Wike said, maintaining his earlier stance that it wasn’t he but Peter Odili who was already turning the oil-rich state into private estate.
He maintained that none of his remarks about Odili was insulting.

He said: “If Odili had denied making certain statements, I would have apologized, but he didn’t.”
The fresh altercation between the two former Rivers State governors is one of the battles in the grand war for control of the state political structures.
