Despite being appointed a Minister under APC administration, Wike said he would do anything to retain the PDP political structures in his state. But this stance is at variant with Fubara’s interests, and it has since led to crisis which, at some points, brought the oil state to a standstill.

Before the court’s ruling, Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party has tried to twist Wike’s hands – but failed.

Wike had pull a fast one, manipulating his way to point where PDP National Working Committee approved his list of new party executives.

Then, the PDP Rivers State Executive Committee, led by Aaron Chukwuemeka, filed an ex-parte application (FHC/ABJ/CS/1396/2024) against PDP Governors’ Forum and others.

Chukwuemeka accused them of plotting to dissolve the legally constituted state, local governments, and wards executives committees of PDP in Rivers State.

Ruling, Justice Peter Lifu said Independent National Electoral Commission must not accept anyone else other than the already elected PDP executives in Rivers.

He also ordered that PDP Governors’ Forum must hand-off and stop meddling on the affairs of Rivers State PDP.
