Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku has empowered more 7 people, bringing the total appointees to 180.

This was disclosed, yesterday, in a statement by the chairman’s Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Nick Ekpete.

“Today, the Executive Chairman of Aninri Local Government, Hon. Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku… appoints the following persons into his visionary administration,” the statement read in part.

Here is the full list of the appointees and their portfolios

1. Hon. Onu Chiedozie – Senior Special Assistant on Projects

2. Hon Meford Okile – Senior Special Assistant on Information Communication Technology (ICT)

3. Hon. Felix Natty Aguh – Senior Special Assistant on Civil Service Matters -former pilot driver to fmr Speaker,Enugu House of Assembly.

4. Hon.Umahi Emmanuel – Senior Special Assistant on Community Matters

5. Hon.Chukwu Dele Magnus – Senior Special Assistant on Environment, former aide to Sen.Ike Ekweremadu

6. Hon. Orji Basil Lucky – Senior Special Assistant on Town Union Matters

7. Rt.Hon.Okolo Stephen Iloabuchi – Senior Special Assistant on Voters Education

Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku has already gone down in the history as the Aninri chairman with the largest circle of appointees.

In the other hand, his immediate predecessor, Bennett Ajah, had the fewest appointees whom he dismissed and reappointed at will.

“We shall continue to empower more people; we must continue to make appointment even to the last days of this administration,” Prince Nwanjoku told The Mail in a phone chat.

Nwanjoku is widely judged the most favoured and wisest chairman to ever lead the council. The backgrounds of his appointees only speak volumes. Unlike most previous chairmen, he chose across party lines and deliberately shun the clannish interests others pursued.

However, the latest batch of appointees also lay to the light the nature of Aninri politics and of Aninri politicians.

For example, Felix Natty Aguh, shouldn’t be in the list. Between 1999 and 2015, Natty was the personal driver to Abel Chukwu, former Speaker Enugu House of Assembly. One would have thought he should be a successful political figure by now owing to the litany of unimaginable opportunities that flew across his face.

But that’s not the case; even his former principal – former Speaker, former acting governor, former federal commissioner – has fallen from his lofty height and is now back to square one where he is even too weak to pick crumbles.

“We’re hoping that one day Igwe Menia [former Aninri chairman] will be appointed an errand boy by his village President General,” a prominent PDP activist told The Mail in anonymity.

Bennett himself, after serving a two-year term in the council, is now a party Youth Leader at almost 70.

“That’s why I like Ugo [Prince Nwanjoku]. He is giving jobs based on what you can do. If anyone should fail later after working with him, then such a person should blame himself.

“Late Igwe Onyioha Nwanjoku lay a good foundation and his children are sticking to that which made their father great. There is no gimmicks. They are simply wise – like their father. That’s all,” the activist added.
